Bulkcarrier sold at auction

Fri Jan 08 11:23:44 CET 2016 Timsen

The Saudi Arabian firm Suleiman Saeed Al-Jabri Trading has acquired the "Shun Cheng", formerly owned by Qingdao Xinwei Shipping, a subsidiary of Qingdao Zhenghe Shipping, through an auction. The court ruled to auction the vessel at the request of 19 crew from the company due to a working contract dispute rumbling since October 2014. Another two vessels owned by Zhenghe Shipping, the "Zheng He 12" and "Fu Shan Wan", were also going to be auctioned by Qingdao Maritime Court at the request of the company’s crew. Zhenghe Shipping was involved in a series of court cases brought about by its financial difficulties.

Unidentified tanker, allegedly m/t Shun Cheng, on fire in Gulf of Tonkin, 6 dead

Tue Oct 02 15:36:56 CEST 2012 odinfm

Fire broke on board of anchored tanker Shun Cheng on Sep 29 in position 20-40N 106-51E, Gulf of Tonkin, off Hai Phong, Vietnam. 5 crew members and 1 firefighter died in an accident, 2 were injured. 5 crew were evacuated. Vietnam media reported the name of the vessel as Shun Cheng, Taiwan-flagged freighter of more than 3,800 tonnage, which is obviously a mistake, because there is no such vessel in known databases. Judging from the photo of the burning vessel it’s definitely tanker and not this Shun Cheng. Fire was caused by sparks during welding works. Maritime Bulletin http://www.odin.tc
