Towed Songa Trym to Aliaga Breakers
Transmission gear destroyed in towing accident
The "Janus" is actually under repair at the Labrador Quay in the fishing port of Bremerhaven. After the tug had pulled an oil rig to the Walvis Bay, a towing cable had fouled the starboard propeller on Apr 17, 2012, after it was losened by the rig crew too early. The transmission gear was destroyed and the engines damaged. On May 13 the ship reached Bremerhaven where the transmission gear was removed and meanwhile a new foundation mounted.
