Ferry lost propulsion

The 'Amadeo Saenz' lost propulsion and had to be assisted by other ferries in the channel in Port Aransas on Jan. 28, 2020 with 28 passengers on board. The ferry was heading to Mustang Island from Harbor Island when propulsion was lost. The ferry drifted a few hundred yards down the channel, toward the city marina’s harbor mouth. Two other ferries, the 'William G. Burnett' and the 'Joseph Weber', headed out to assist. The 'Amadeo Saenz' regained propulsion power while being guided by the other ferries toward Mustang Island and managed to dock under its own power so that the vehicles on board could be unloaded. Ot was not yet known why the ferry lost propulsion, andd the vessel remained out of service until it has been cleared by the Coast Guard.
