Disabled fish carrier towed to Lochmaddy

Tue Apr 23 10:17:40 CEST 2019 Timsen

The "Viking Gripfisk" suffered a fouled propeller and went adrift in pos. 057 34 18.0 N, 006 49 42.0 W, on April 20, 2019. At request of DCPSO, the Coastguard tug "Ievoli Black" was requested to standby north of Raasay, Isle of Skye. The vessel was later taken in tow by the "Naomi Jennifer" and safely anchored in Lochmaddy with the "Naomi Jennifer" remaining on standby until the arrival of divers on April 21. The fish carrier was loaded with 135 tons of live fish, bound for Lochmaddy.

Engine room of fish carrier flooded

Sun Dec 10 18:35:50 CET 2017 Timsen

Four fire engines were called into action in Scalloway on Dec 9, 2017, after the engine room of the "Viking Gripfisk" had taken on 1,200 gallons of water while the vessel was moored at the Blacksness Pier. It had no crew or cargo on board. The call to the emergency services went out at 4.10 p-m. The first fire engine arrived around 20 minutes later and the others followed. Using three portable pumps and one ejector pump, the water was removed from the vessel and the incident was under control by 6.01 p.m.
