Ship breached on a reef off Syros

In the morning of Aug 23, 2ß23, the "Sporades Star", serving the route Syros-Serifos-Sifnos-Kimolos-Milos and return, hit a reef just outside Azolimnos with 90 passengers on board, and suffered a leak. The crew decided to return to the port of Syros. Divers are at the scene to identify the damage. The passengers, mostly tourists, were transported to Milos, via Santorini, with the speedboat "World Champion Jet". Anchor loss in Volos

The 'Sporades Star' lost its port side anchor shortly after its departure from the port of Volos during the morning hours of July 22, 2022. The vessel continued its scheduled route to Skiathos with 172 passengers on board. After berthing at the port of Skiathos, an inspector of the Local Ship Inspection Unit checked the proper functioning of the starboard anchor and issued the vessel with a temporary class certificate of seaworthiness.

Ferry suffered engine damage

The Port Authority of Volos was informed in the morning hours of July 12 by the Master of the "Sporades Star" that the ship could not perform its scheduled route to Sporades due to a damage of the starboard side main engine. The Central Port Authority of Volos prohibited the sailing of the ferry until the repair of the damage and the presentation of a certificate of clss maintenance of class by the monitoring classifiction society.
