Ship anchored off Ayvalik following engine trouble
The 'Asmar', enroute from Dörtyol to Dikili, suffered a main engine failure about 17,5 miles west of Mithimna, Lesbos, on July 2020. The ship was taken in tow by a Greek tug and anchored off Mytilini where it was detained until completion of repairs. After the damage was fixed temporariily, the vessel has been granted permission to shift to Ayvalik anchorage where it moored on July 30 where it remained stationary in pos. 39° 14.06' N 026° 38.75' E as of Aug 2 for further repairs which were, however, not completed. The tug 'Ocean Ergun' was appointed to tow the vessel to the Tuzla shipyard area. The towage operation commenced on Aug 6, and on Aug 10 at 4.15 p.m. the ship moored off Tuzla in pos. 40° 50.40' N 029° 16.38' E. On Aug 10 it entered the yard, and repairs have commenced since.
