Two luxury yachts grounded on the same reef

On Aug 1, 2018, the CROSS Corsica received a Mayday call of the "Audrey II" which had run aground on a reef north-west of Bonifacio, requiring the coordination of major rescue equipment. The yacht got stuck in the area of the Bruzzi- Roccapina islands in the heart of a nature reserve and suffered water ingress. The Corsican CROSS depöoyed the SNSM-boats of Propriano and Bonifacio, the anti pollution vessel "Jason" and a boat of the nature reserve Bouches de Bonifacio.The ship had on board seven persons. At 5.15 p.m. the water ingress was under controll and the yacht could be refloated. It was then able to transit to Propriano, escorted by the lifeboats, arriving there around midnight. Only hours before, the yacht "Meri IV" had been in the same situation on the same reef.
