Fire extinguished, ship adrift

The fire on the 'Beks Force' was extinguished on June 16 at 6.20 p.m. LT, after the crew activated the firefighting system. Tugs and salvage vessels have returned to the home port. Several vessels of Russia's Marine Rescue Service and the border department of Russia's Federal Security Service in the region had been sent to theposition. The ship remained adrift in the Sea of Japan as of June 21.

Fire on bulk carrier injured two crew members

In the morning of June 16, 2023, a fire broke out in the engine room of the 'Beks Force', en route from Bilixiang to Vostochnxy with 24 crew members on board, 40 nautical miles south of Nakhodka in the Sea of Japan. The eergency service were alerted at 09.55 a.m. LT. One Filipino and one Turkish crew members had suffered injuries and had to be medevaced. Both were taken off and transferred to a hospital. The tugs ''Svetlomor 3' (IMO: 8606484) and 'Aleksandr Kozitsyn' (IMO: 9826316) as well as patrol boats were deployed to the bulk carrier, which was disabled and adrift in pos. 42° 06.00' N 133° 13.96' E, about 35-40 nautical miles south of Nakhodka, where it had been waiting for a permission to enter port since June 14.
