The "Bimi" was being docked at the Bredo Yard in Bremerhaven since Mar 5, 2014, after having been involved in a collision with the Cyprus flagged hopper dredger "Barent Zanen“ (IMO: 8315504) on Mar 1 at 6.30 a.m. on Medem Roads in dense fog. The accident happened after the ship left the Kiel Canal locks in Brunsbüttel, whilst coming from Eemshaven. The "Bimi" was towed to the Sea Bath Bridge in Cuxhaven by the tugs "Taucher O. Wulf 3" and "Taucher O. Wulf 5" some time later, also the pilot boat "Nübbel" and the lifeboat "Hermann Helms" attended. The "Barent Zanen" returned to Cuxhaven too.
