Engine trouble off Mosterhamn

Sat Nov 04 09:22:12 CET 2017 Timsen

The "Blessing W" arrived in Liepaja on Nov 3, 2017, at 11.45 a.m. after having encounter engine damage in the Bømla Fjord south of Mosterhamn on Oct 30, having sailed in Dakar on Oct 15. The ship went adrift and was only 300 meters off the shore when the NSSR-lifeboat "Bergen Kreds“ arrived on site. Half an hour after the engine failure the Norwegian cargo m/v "Eva Elisabeth“ (MMSI: 257861700), enroute from Leirvik in Hyllestadto Karmsund, had arrived at the ship and held it in position the best way possible. The anchor of the bulkcarrier was dropped and stopped the drift due to the calm position until the crew managed to get the engine running again.
