Engine trouble off Eemshaven

Mon Mar 11 21:52:10 CET 2019 Timsen

The "Brufjell" suffered main engine trouble at the height off Terschelling and Ameland in position 53 39 06.0 N, 5 24 12.0 E, on March 8, 2019, at 8 p.m. while en route from Eemshaven to Moerdijk in ballast. The ship was driting NUC in the shpping route between Terschelling and the German Bight. The crew in vain tried to fix the damage, and the ship was taken under tow by the emergency tug "Guardian". In stormy weather the towage got ahead with 5,5 knots towards Eemshaven, where it arrived on March 9 at 11.35 a.m. In Eemshaven the tugs "Waterstroom" and "Waterstraat" took over and safely berthed the casualty in the Juliana Port. The "Guardian" returned to its sea position at 4.25 p.m. Dutch report with photos: https://www.eemshavenonline.nl/scheepvaart/kustwachtsleper-guardian-sleept-schip-met-problemen-naar-de-eemshaven/
