Hydraulic power failure off Port Cartier
The "Bulk Beothuk" while berthing in Port Cartier, suffered a main hydraulic power failure, which prevented the use of mooring winches and windlasses, on June 3, 2019. As the vessel could not berth or anchor, it left the port and remained in the area at manoeuvring speed while waiting for a shore technician to join the vessel for inspection and repairs. The ship sailed from the port on June 9, bound for Apapa-Lagos, ETA Jun 24.
Crane cable broke
A cable of one of the cranes of the "Bulk Beothuk" broke and fell into the cargo hold no.1, while loading in Becancour, Quebec, in position 046 24 00 N, 072 22 32.4 W, on Nov 12, 2018, at 4.10 p.m. No one on board was injured. the ship left port on Nov 15 at 5.30 p.m., bound to Wilmington, USA.
Cooling system failure in Quebec
The "Bulk Beothuk" was disabled due to a main engine cooling system failure, while proceeding out of the bay of Sept-Iles, Quebec, in position 50 06 16.2N, 66 12 20.4W, on Apr 25, 2018, at 3.40 p.m. The vessel proceeded to an anchorage to carry out the repairs.
