Pier damaged in allision in Brunsbüttel

Enroute Colon-Porvoo the "CT Longford" allided with the pier of the company Sasol in Brunsbüttel in the morning of Sep 27, 2012, and also hit a piling belonging to the Maritime Authority. The ship had on board 8000 tons ethanol and had left the great northern lock in Brunsbüttel eastbound when it started to veer to port and hit the pier on the northern side of the inner port of Brundsbüttel. The eastern part of the pier was severely damaged, the piling completely submerged. The tanker suffered damages on both sides of the foreship. The vessel was docked at the Navy Pilings on the south side of the Kiel Canal after the allison and was imposed. The hull has to be surveyed by divers. According to investigations of the police the ship had a problem while switching the control of the ship from the starboard yardarm to center operations. No one was injured in the accident, and there were no pollutants. The investigation of the water police Brunsbüttel continued.
