Bulk carrier grounded in Bosphorus

The 'Lady Zehma', en route from Chornomorsk to Italy with a cargo of corn, ran aground in the Bebek Bay while transiting the Bosphorus on Sep 1, 2022, at around 6 p.m. UTC, due to a rudder failure. Coastal Safety deployed the tugs 'Kurtarma 5', 'Kurtarma 6', 'Kurtarma 9' and 'Kurtarma 12' as well as the 'Nazim Tur' and the lifeboats 'Kiyem 3' and 'Kiyem 5'. Under the coordination of the Istanbul Ship Traffic Services Center, the ship could be refloated and taken to the anchorage in Ahırkapı, where it was safely moored in pos. 40° 59.38' N 028° 57.82' E, where it remained stationary as of Sep 2. Drifting bulker towed to Las Palmas

On Feb 1, 2014, the tug "Fairmount Glacier" safely delivered the disabled "Cassiopeia Star" at Reina Sofia Suroeste in the port of Las Palmas. The ship had suffered engine trouble in the Atlantic in January, and Tsavliris Salvage was contracted with the salvage. The "Fairmount Glacier" sailed 1.720 miles towards the drifting "Cassiopeia Star" which had been underway from Bari to Mexico with a cargo of baryt malm. The "Fairmount Glacier" towed the ship over a distance of 1.950 miles. Disabled freighter taken in tow

The "Cassiopeia Star" got disabled in the Atlantic due to unknown reason off Canary Islands, Odin.tc reports. The vessel was taken in tow by the Dutch tug "Fairmount Glacier" (IMO: 9344796). On Feb 1, 2014, the freighter was approaching Las Palmas, Canary Islands. The vessel was en route from Marocco to Canary Islands.
