Fifth supply tanker arrived in Venezuela

Iran's fifth tanker, the 'Carnation', entered Venezuelan waters and anchored off Puerto Cabello on June 2, 2020, after the country sent five oil tankers loaded with 1.53 million barrels of gasoline and alkylate to Venezuela to help boost oil refineries in the state amid a fuel crisis. Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro described the transportation of Iranian fuel to the South American nation as a sign of solidarity between Tehran and Caracas. The 'Fortune' was the first to arrive from Iran on May 23. Then the 'Forest' arrived on May 25, the 'Petunia' on May 26 and the 'Faxon' opn May 27. Of the 1,800 fuel stations in Venezuela, some 240 have continued to operate since Maduro announced blocking measures related to Covid-19 in March, which included restrictions on fuel sales due to very low inventories. Venezuela's refineries, which can produce more than 1.3 million barrels per day of fuel, have worked at less than 20% of their capacity in 2020, mainly due to power cuts and lack of spare parts, caused by the sanctions of United States.
