CORPUS CHRISTI 8635722

Tue Apr 06 10:36:19 CEST 2010 Timsen

On Apr 3 evening, the Washington-state funded emergency response tug "Hunter" reached the disabled vessels and it stood by through the night in case the tug and barge needed assistance. On Apr 4, though the bar had been opened by the Coast Guard, because of continued rough bar conditions on the Columbia River and a forecast for conditions to worsen, tug and barge owner U.S. Shipping Corp. decided to move the vessels north to Port Angeles, Wash., for repairs, escorted by the "Hunter". The vessels arrived safely early Apr 5, 2010.

CORPUS CHRISTI 8635722

Tue Apr 06 10:35:10 CEST 2010 Timsen

The Coast Guard was notified by the crew of the "Corpus Christi" on Apr 2, 2010, that the vessel was experiencing problems with the mechanical locking pins that connect the tug to the barge "Petrochem Supplier". The vessel was transiting the Oregon coast en route from Anacortes, Wash., to Long Beach, Calif. with cargo of approximately 150,000 barrels of Vacuum Gas Oil. The vessel owners contracted the 7200 hp tug "Hunter" to escort the vessels across the bar.
