Allision in Cuxhaven
The ferry "Saaremaa" which was soon to leave Germany bound for Canada, was damaged in an allision with the "Curaçao Pearl" on March 27, 2019, at the port of Cuxhaven. The ship had left the port of Hamburg on March 13, where it had been docked for several months, to conduct sea trials from the port of Cuxhaven. It was caught by currents and pushed against the bulkcarrier which was berthed at the Steubenhöft in Cuxhaven since March 21. The "Saaremaa" has returned after the incident and berthed at the Muetzelfeldt Yard around noon. The damage at the starboard side foreship should require a maximum of two days of work. The police boarded the ferry after its return. The current was strong and it was the first time this captain had operated the ship. The ""Curaçao Pearl" suffered slight damage at its starboard side stern above the waterline.
