Medevac off the Hague

Fri Sep 27 10:16:18 CEST 2013 Timsen

On Sep 26 at 9.40 a.m. the "Alizé 3" now being on a position 26 nautical miles northwest of the Hague informed the CROSS Jobourg that a member of the crew, aged 31, fell two metres deep into the hold. The CROSS Joburg contacted the marine medical consultation center in Toulouse for an initial diagnosis and decided a medevac to the Louis Pasteur Hospital in Cherbourg. An EC225 helicopter of the Navy Base Maupertus was dispatched to take the wounded man off. Around 11:30 a.m. the EC 225 had hoisted the injured and transported to the commercial port of Cherbourg, where the fisherman was supported by firefighters and transported to hospital. Propeller fouled by nylon sheetings

Thu Sep 26 10:27:30 CEST 2013 Timsen

On Sep 25, 2013, the French maritime police assisted the "Alizé 3" which was in difficulties off Ecrehous. The crew had requested the CROSS Joburg for help at 3 p.m. after nylon sheeting used to cover shipping containers had fouled its propeller. The Coastguard dispatched the patrol boat "Glaive". Two divers cleared the propeller, and the "Alizé 3" was able to resume its voyage at 4 p.m. French report with photos: http://www.lamanchelibre.fr/granville/actualite-46057-ecrehous-navire-peche-secouru.html
