Disabled ferry under tow to Varna
The "Geroita Na Sevastopol", which for the first time in two years, was supposed to sail in the morning of June 23, 2022, to Poti, suffered a technical damage and was taken in tow to Varna. The ship had stopped abruptly in pos. 43° 11.16' N 027° 49.06' E on Lake Varna after the electronics of both engines failed.
Crew member died in fire
A 56 year old, Bulgarian crew member of the "Geroite Na Seavastopol" was killed by smoke inhalation in a fire on board the ferry which sailed to Sochi on March 9, 2018, at noon. The fire broke out in the cabin of the man who was not on watch. The were has suppressed the fire so it could not spread. There are no other victims. The reasons for the incident were being investigated, but a short circuit was thought to have caused the fire. The ship was coming from illichivsk and berthed in Poti on March 10 at 8.30 a.m.
