Ferry handed over to Elbeferry in Stavanger
On Feb 2, 2020, the 'Fanafjord' has been handed over to its charterer Elbeferry and renamed 'Greenferry I' and brought under German flag in Stavanger. On Feb 3 the ship was due to sail to Cuxhaven, its new homeport where the ship arrived on Feb 4. The ship is due to start the service Cuxhaven-Brunsbüttel on March 1 at the earliest and at Easter at the latest. Fanafjord to become Elbe ferry
In the night of Feb 19, 2019, the "Fanafjord" has been sold to the new founded Elbeferry-Gesellschaft. The ship is to be renamed "Elbe-Express" starting in April. The crossing will take one hour.
Ferry suffered technical trouble
In the morning of Nov 1, 2018, the "Fanafjord" suffered technical problems with the bow vizor and had to be withdrawn from the service between Sandvikvåg and Halhjem. The first departure to be cancelled was at 6 a.m. from Halhjem, followed by the sailings from Sandvikvåg at 7 a.m. and 08.45 a.m. as well as the sailing at 07.45 a.m. from Halhjem. At 9.30 a.m. operator Fjord1 annouced that also the departures from Halhjem at 09:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. along with the departures from Sandvikvåg at 10.15 a.m. and 11.45 a.m. were cancelled.
