Quay jumpers delayed departure of river cruise ship

Wed Jun 21 11:37:59 CEST 2017 Timsen

The departure of the "Henry Dunant" from Lelystad to Urk was delayed on June 19, 2017, as young people jumped repeatedly into the water near the ship. As long as they were in the area, the captain refused to loosen the ropes. The port master was called and summoned the youngsters to stay on the quayside. But when the ship left, one of the youngsters pushed a friend into the water who got into trouble when he was caught by the suction of the river cruise ship at 4:30 p.m. The boy was struggling to stay above the water in the waves of the propeller, being caught in a life-threatening situation, especially because the captain of the departing ship did not know that the boy was in the water. The boy could finally be pulled out of the water. The police then sent the youngsters away.
