Three stowaways apprehended after jumping from barge
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers apprehended three stowaway men from the Dominican Republic on May 8, 2023, who jumped to the water from a barge towed by the 'Indian Dawn', when it was arriving at Guayanilla, Puerto Rico, from Lake Charles, Louisiana. Puerto Rico Police Officers contacted the CBP Port of Ponce regarding possible stowaways onboard the tug, operating in the southern coast of the island. The 'Indian Dawn' was towing the barge 'Sea Crest'. The three male stowaways were apprehended dock side after jumping into the water. The individuals claimed to be citizens of the Dominican Republic. Information obtained indicated that the undocumented migrants boarded the vessel near Samana, Dominican Republic while it was transiting through the area. The three men will be processed for removal proceedings.
