Steering issue in Hyannis
The 'Iyanough' suffered a steering control issue at the port of Hyannis in the morning of Sep 11, 2022. The ferry was sidelined for repairs, the steering was replaced and the system recalibrated. After the US Coast Guard cleared the ferry for sailing, it returned to service with a departure from Hyannis at 5 p.m. the same day.
Sailings cancelled after engine overheated
On Nov 4, 2021, the Steamship Authority canceled the afternoon and evening sailings of the 'Iyanough' after an engine overheated on its 12:30 p.m. sailing from Nantucket to Hyannis. The vessel returned to Nantucket to dismebark the passengers, and then returned empty to Hyannis, where the problem was assessed and repaired.
Low pressure alarm on ferry
The 'Iyanough' had to be taken out of service in the morning of July 29, 2021, after a low fuel-pressure alarm sounded on its 8:15 a.m. trip to Nantucket. The vessel returned to Hyannis without incident, and the alarm was being investigated by SSA engineers. Initially the 9:15 a.m. and 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. trips were cancelled by the operator SSC so far with no timeline for the return.
