Video of wreck removal published
The salvage company Bokalis has pusblished a video taken in November 2017 how sheerlegs pulled up the "JBB de Rong 19" which sank on September 19th, 2017, off Singapore after a collision with the Indonesian tanker "Kartika Segara". The wreck was cut into five sections which were then raised by the "SMit Cyclone" towed to land aboard large barges. During the work, divers found the body of a crew member who had been missing since accident. There were 12 crew members on board the dredder when it was hit by the tanker. Last missing crew member recovered
The search and recovery operations for the missing crew members following the collision between the "JBB De Rong 19" and the tanker "Kartika Segara" in Singapore territorial waters on Sep 13 have been concluded by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) after the body of the last missing crew member of the dredger was found and identified on Nov 5. The body was found inside the accommodation structure of the dredger by divers during salvage operations. All 12 crew members on board the vessel have now been accounted for, with seven rescued and five bodies recovered. Search area for missing crew members widened
Efforts to locate and rescue the three missing crew members of the "JBB De Rong 19" in Singapore waters were continuing in the night of Sep 14. The dredger was bottom up about 1,7 miles south-west of Sisters' Islands, in the Singapore Strait. Two other members of the crew of 12 were taken to hospital. One has been discharged, while the other remained under observation at the Singapore General Hospital. The multi-agency search and rescue operation was led by the MPA and included the Republic of Singapore Air Force, the Republic of Singapore Navy, Singapore Police Coast Guard and Singapore Civil Defence Force, PSA Marine and offshore marine service provider Posh Semco. The MPA widened the search area and increased the number of vessels in the operation from 22 on Sep 13 to 29 on Sep 14. The surface search area now covers 250 sq km, up from 130 sq km. The aerial search area, meanwhile, more than tripled, from 770 sq km to 2,701 sq km. Five aircraft have also been involved in the aerial search. The Indonesian Rescue Coordination Centre was working with the Singapore authorities to assist operations with an additional 10 vessels in Indonesian territorial waters. The 12 crew members on board the capsized dredger comprised 11 Chinese nationals and a Malaysian. One of the casualties was Chinese and the other Malaysian. The 26 Indonesian crew members on board the "Kartika Segara" were unscathed. The ship's starboard side bow was visibly damaged.
