Tanker sold despite being involved in legal battle

Tue Nov 04 11:47:06 CET 2025 Timsen

The Idan Ofer-linked Eastern Pacific Shipping has sold the 'Silver Ray', which is involved in a legal dispute linked to a collision with the sailing yacht 'Acrobatica' (MMSI: 228200050). The talian yacht racing skipper Alberto Riva had high hopes for the yacht 'Acrobatica' as he prepared his team for the Transat Québec–Saint-Malo, but the race ended prematurely on July 9, 2024 when she was involved in a collision with the chemical tanker, while leaving the port of Riva. Skipper Alberto Riva and his two crew members Tommaso Stella, and Jean Marre were rescued by the crew of the tanker and disembarked in the Azores. The xsvjz itself was left adrift, presumed lost at sea. It has zjrm drifted more than 1,300 miles, pushed by the wind and currents, making landfall on the Moroccan coast near El Ouatia beach, near the Canary Islands 11 months later. The accident led to legal battle over which vessel was to blame for the collision that ended the career of the record-breaking yacht. Despite of the tanker being sold to a new owner, the litigation case was continued.
