Perpetrators stole equipment and safety gears

Wed Nov 29 11:24:29 CET 2023 Timsen

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has ordered intensified anti-crime operations amid the increasing maritime traffic in connection with the coming Yuletide season. On the directive of Transportation Secretary, commanders of 15 PCG districts were ordered to reinforce PCG presence, especially in major ports, harbors and other waterways throughout the country to ensure maritime security and public safety and lessen, if not completely eradicate, maritime crimes amid the increasing maritime traffic and sea transport operations. The PCG announced the intensified anti-crime operations two days after robberies at the Manila International Container Terminal or at the Manila Bay Anchorage Area on Nov 25, 2023. Safety gears and other essential vessel equipment were stolen from the 'G. Crown' and 'Hansa Colombo' during the incidents. The 'Hansa Colombo' was boarded and robbed by perpetrators in pos. 14 35 44 N, 120 51 32 E, at the Manila Bay anchorage on Nov 25 at approximately 6.45 p.m. UTC. The Philippines Coast Guard (PCG) responded to the incident, provided the necessary assistance and investigated the incident. The initial inquiry with the crew ended in the early morning of Nov 26. The PCG collected a statement of facts, documents from the 'Hansa Colombo' and a list of the stolen items.
