Allision off Merak

Mon Apr 03 11:34:49 CEST 2023 Timsen

The 'Mabuhay Nusantrara' allided with the anchored ferry 'Labitra Karina' (IMO: 8611568) on April 1, 2023, at around 7 a.m. LT on April 1, 2023, at the anchorage of Merak Port in the Sunda Strait. The watch officer of the ferry timely saw the oncoming passenger ship and was making VHF calls, but this didn’t respond and struck the hull, which was breached in several places with ensuing water ingress. The ferry heaved up anchor and was run aground to avoid sinking. Some crew members were evacuated, others remained on board to assist the salvage operation. The 'Labitra Karina' had been moored at Merak anchorage since March 30, the 'Mabuhai Nusantara' since March 31 and was leaving the anchorage at the time of the accident.

Allision in Merak

Mon Feb 06 13:50:46 CET 2023 Timsen

The KMP 'Mabuhay Nusantara' crashed into the side ramp at Pier I of Merak Port, Cilegon City, on Feb 6,2023, at 9.50 a.m. MIB. Strong currents and winds in the Merak Port had disrupted the ship's movement which was about to dock at Pier 1. The ship entered the channel at a speed of 4 knots while moving to starboard side, because it is pushed by the current. The bow could not be turn to port until it ended in an allision with a remaining speed of approximately 0.8 knots. The side ramp leaned ashore and resulted in a broken hinge. No injuries were reported. Report with photo: https://www.bantennews.co.id/diterjang-angin-kencang-kmp-mabuhay-nusantara-tabrak-side-ramp-dermaga-i-pelabuhan-merak/
