Medevac off Isle of Wight

Wed Apr 12 11:57:08 CEST 2023 Timsen

The Bembridge RNLI responded to reports of a man with a head injury on the 'BBC Iceland', en route from Gdynia to Aviles, about 5,5 nautical miles off the coast of the Isle of Wight in the evening of April 11, 2023. The ALB ‘Alfred Albert Williams’ was tasked just before 7:30 p.m. by the Solent Coastguard and reached the 'BBC Iceland' at around 7:55 p.m. in wind force 7 and two meters swell. The casualty was safely transferred from the cargo ship by means of making his own way down the boarding ladder wearing a harness. The lifeboat headed to The Camber in Portsmouth, coming alongside at 8:35 p.m., where the casualty was transferred to a waiting ambulance. The Bembridge ALB returned safely to the Offshore Boathouse and was rehoused by 9:30 p.m.
