Collision in Piraeus
The ferry "Blue Horizon" was in collision with the "Blue Galaxy" at the port of Piraeus in the night of Sep 24, 2018, during the departure. The ferry with 493 passengers on board was destined for Heraklion, and the "Blue Galaxy" with 603 passengers was headed to Chania. The stern of the "Blue Horizon" touched the starboard side of the "Blue Galaxy"'s bow and created a small dent. The "Blue Horizon" suffered superficial damage to the port side of the aft. Both ships were detained until they were inspected by the attending classification society and received a certificate of airworthiness within about one hour. The "Blue Galaxy" left the port of Piraeus at 10.30 p.m. bound to Souda, the "Blue Horizon" sailed at 10.40 p.m. and berthed in Heraklion on Sep 25 at 8 a.m.
Ferry suffered generator trouble
In the morning of Aug 17, 2018, at 10 a.m. the "Blue Galaxy" suffered a technical malfunction at a generator and could not leave for a scheduled service from Piraeus to Chania with 625 passengers, 163 cars, nine trucks, one bus and 15 bikes on board. The port authority initially detained the ferry, but after the damage was repaired and the class attendance certificate was presented by the relevant classification society the ship could sail with a delay.
