Tanker caused oil spill on Mississippi
The US Coast Guard was responding to a heavy fuel oil discharge into the Mississippi River near Norco on April 22, 2018, from the "Iver Expoter". An estimate of 1,400 gallons of fuel oil was discharged into the river. The source of the discharge is secured and the vessel is currently moored at the Shell Norco Manufacturing Complex. The Unified Command conducted overflights, on-water and shoreline assessments and found shoreline impact from mile marker 126 to 122. At present, the Unified Command has deployed 40 people and six vessels in response to the incident. Air monitoring was being conducted along the impacted region, and air quality remained safe.
