Cruise ship sold and renamed
The Frenchs startup CFC (Compagnie Francaise De Croisieres) has bought the former 'Maasdam' for 30 millionen US dollar from the Greek company Seajets which had bought the ship in summer 2020 during the pandemic and renamed "Aegean Myth“. The ship, which has been laid up in Aigio since, has now been renamed "Renaissance“. Behind the Hinter CFC and the CFC Holdco. is Clément Mousset who had been working for Celestyal Cruises, Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV) a.o. before.
HAL sold four cruise ships
Holland America Line announced that the 'Amsterdam', 'Maasdam', 'Rotterdam' and 'Veendam' have been sold and will be transferring to undisclosed buyers. The ships have been sold in pairs, with the 'Maasdam' and 'Veendam' transferring to one company in August 2020, while the 'Amsterdam' and 'Rotterdam' will move to another company in fall 2020. One pair will be going to a new cruise brand.
Maasdam rerouted to Honolulu
The 'Maasdam' that was en route to Hilo was now headed for the port of Honolulu instead after the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation Harbors Division said in the afternoon of MArch 16, 2020, that reservation has been canceled. The Division and the US Coast Guard remained in contact with the ship, and HDOT was working with the vessel’s agent regarding a new reservation. To date, there have been no positive cases of Covid-19 associated with the ship. The vessel will have been at sea longer than the 14-day incubation period prior to arriving in Hawai‘i. The vessel’s leadership is required to report any symptomatic passengers prior to arriving in Hawaiian waters. If there are concerns with passengers the ship can be held out of port.
