Barge unloaded and under repair

Barge towed to Duisburg

Divers patched the breaches in the hull of the "Mabrena“ on Feb 22 so far, that the ship could leave the port of Neuss at 2 p.m. bound to Duisburg, arriving in basin B at 5 p.m. The pumps of the fire brigade Duisburg had continued working during the stay in Neuss, also the Water Guard was on scene during that time. The cause of the water ingress still remained to be investigated.

Barge towed to Neuss

In the evening of Feb 21 the "Mabrena" was towed to the port of Neuss by a tug and berthed at 9.50 p.m. The fire rescue Düsseldorf was demobilizied after more than two days with up tp 71 forces on scene. It was expected that the ship would have to be scrapped due to the significant hull damage.
