Tanker hit by cargo ship

On Sep 4, 2012, at 9.40 p.m. the Antigua-Barbuda flagged cargo m/v "Magda D" was in collision with the "Maersk Barry" when turning into the Neuhöfer Canal. The "Magda D" which was coming from Riga was pilot assisted when heading to berth 50 in the canal. The "Maersk Barry" lag was berthed at ADM Köhlbrand. When the "Magda D" sailed upstream the Köhlbrand and turned to port to get into the canal the "Magda D" was caught by strong currents and pushed against the "Maersk Barry" with its port side. The "Magda D" suffered damage at the railings and the hatch installations. The damage was some thousand Euro. The "Maersk Barry" was dented at the port side aft. The police started an investigation, collected the radar- and VHF data and seized the "Magda D".
