Anchor caught in underwater construction after engine failure

Mon Jul 20 10:29:18 CEST 2015 Timsen

The "Maxal Raise" suffered an engine failure around July 16, 2015, on a channel while entering Varna port, and had to drop anchor in emergency to avoid running aground. Later it was found that the anchor could not be heaved because it was hooked on a sludge pipeline and almost crashed it. Divers cut the anchor chain to allow the ship proceeding to safe position without blocking the traffic at the busy channel. In the afternoon of July 19 the ship was moored in Varna.

Vessel overloaded and detained

Mon Jan 16 22:26:08 CET 2012 Timsen

The "RMS Buchholz" is arrested in the inner port of Brunsbüttel since Jan 13, 2012. The police found the ship overloaded by 40 tons asphalt granulate when it came from Eemshaven. As there is only little ballast water on board and the ship had to bunker 30 tons fuel in Brunsbüttel, 40 tons of the cargo will have to be unloaded before the ship may sail on to Latvia. As the cargo is classified as waste, this must be approved by the local authorities which has not yet been done until Jan 16.
