15 crew members hospitalized

On May 30, 2020, there were about 15 people hospitalized at the Miulli hospital in Acquaviva delleources, the Covid-19 center for the Bari area, coming from the 'Costa Favolosa' which has been docked since April 24 at the port of Taranto. No confirmation has been received from the hospital regarding the state of health of the hospitalized people. Aboard the ship there wree only the 674 crew members. The ship had moved from the Canary Islands to the Ionian Sea and is in Taranto for a period of preventive quarantine. The 'Costa Favolosa' was to remain at the multi-sectoral pier until May 4 because that is the date until which the concessionaire of the quay, the Turkish group Yilport, had given his availability.

Crew member died of coronavirus

An Indian crew member of the 'Costa Favolosa' died of coronavirus. Andrew Fernandes succumbed to the disease at Larkin Memorial Hospital in Hialeah on April 4 after testing positive for the COVID-19 virus. The ship had berthed in Miami on March 29 for medical reasons. Costa Cruises expressed sincere thanks go to the doctors and nurses of the Larkin Community Palm Spring Hospital for doing everything possible to save his life. Also the 'Costa Magica' and 'Costa Favolosa' have been anchored near the port of Miami and were waiting for the completion of medical evacuation plans. Six members of the 'Costa Magica' crew and seven from the 'Costa Favolosa' had to be medevaced because they were infected. Also the 'Coral Princess' passengers were still waiting to disembark. Three passengers had died on April 5, including a 71-year-old man who died in a Miami hospital.

On crew member who fell ill onboard the 'Costa Favolosa' off the coast of Miami was removed from the ship on March 29 to be hospitalized. The Coast Guard escorted a cruise ship tender from to shore where the patient was to receive a higher level of medical care. People wearing hazmat suits took the patient from the Coast Guard station in Miami Beach to Palm Springs General Hospital. On March 26, more than a dozen crew members with respiratory issues from both the 'Costa Favolosa' and 'Costa Magica' were taken to three hospitals in Miami-Dade. Remaining crew members were told to isolate in guest cabins.
