Oil booms laid out around grounded ferry
The Philippine Coast Guard Station Eastern Bohol and the Marine Environmental Protection Unit - Central Visayas installed an oil boom around the grounded 'Lite Ferry 1', 479 gt (IMO: 7005530), to prevent any possible oil spill after the vessel was dragged to shallow waters by strong waves brought by the typhoon Paeng (international name Nalgae) at the Jagna Port in Bohol. No injuries were reported among the 23 crew members of the ferry.
Ferry ran aground
The 'Lite Ferry 1' ran aground at the Jagna Port in Bohol, after it started dagging amidst trong winds and waves in the night of Oct 28, 2022, with 23 crew members on board. The vessel was manoeuvring near the port for anchorage when it was went adroift at 11.50 p.m. The Coast Guard Station Eastern Bohol was monitoring the vessel which slightly tilted to its side. The vessel was expected to be refloated once the weather improved.
