Icebreaker Kapitan Moshkin escorts M/V Nasiba Zeynalova to Taganrog port

The Kapitan Moshkin, a diesel-electric icebreaker owned by Rosmorport has successfully guided the M/V Nasiba Zeynalova to the Port of Taganrog, the Azov Ice Ops HQ said. Then the Kapitan Moshkin led two cargo ships from the port, the M/V Adriatic Mariner and the M/V Baltic Mariner from, catching up with a convoy of 13 ships escorted by the Kapitan Krutov from the Sea of Azov. Overall, there are 37 merchant ships in the Sea of Azov, as of Feb. 19, 20:00 (GMT), including 22 waiting, 12 sailing and 2 stricken merchant ships. Besides, there is a backlog of 63 vessels, which are ready to depart from the Russian ports in the Azov Sea, only 14 of them have ice class hulls.

Stuck in ice, supplies ran out

Eleven vessels trapped in ice in Azov sea ran, or are running out, of fuel and supplies. Palmali’s tanker Nasiba Zeynalova is one of them, as of Feb 11 she ran out of provisions, fuel left for 2 days, fresh water for 9 days.
