Near collision off San Diego

The USS 'Momsen' was in a near collision with the amphibious ship USS 'Harpers Ferry' (MMSI: 369889000) on Nov 29, 2022, in a narrow channel of California's San Diego Bay. The vessels came within 35 yards of each other in the morning, but were able to avert disaster through some last-minute maneuvering. The ships were were transiting opposite directions in the San Diego Bay in close vicinity. Neither was damaged and no one was hurt as a result of the evasive actions. The commanders of both ships had agreed in advance to traverse the channel simultaneously and pass by in opposite directions. But although the ships were in communication from the beginning, they ended up sailing head-on at each other.
