Repair in Kiel
The "Northsea Alpha" remained under repair in Kiel on March 26. Four days ago a fuel line had ruptured, followed by smoke development in the engine room and an automatical shutdown as a consequence. The ship then was disabled and grounded between Oldenbüttel and Breiholz. After an emergency repair she reached Kiel. Besides the repairs and the class inspection also a damage survey by a diver was to be carried out. The tanker left the Voith Quay in Kiel on April 9 at 8.30 p.m. after repairs were finished. She next headed to Naynäshamn, ETA April 11. Grounding in Kiel Canal
Enroute from Eastham to Fredericia the "Northsea Alpha" ran into the embankment of the Kiel Canal during its eastbound transit in Breiholz on March 22, 2019, short before midnight.The canal was barred for ship traffic between Oldenbüttel und Breiholz. At 1.45 a.m. on March 23 the ship was refloated. It was taken in tow by the tugs "Wolf" and "Bugsier 15" and berthed at the Voith Quay in Kiel att 7.50 p.m. for investigations where she remained stationary on March 25.
