Wind farm seacat pulled yacht off sandbar

Tue Jul 10 19:02:29 CEST 2012 Timsen

The wind farm Seacat "Wind Speed 4" was the first on scene after the yacht "Taporini" ran aground on July 10 at 2 a.m. The skipper had fired red flares to alert nearby shipping to the emergency after running up on Longsands bank with three people onboard. The "Wind Speed 4" passed a tow line and pulled the boat clear of the sand bank, 22 miles south of Harwich. Harwich RNLI all weather lifeboat arrived shortly afterwards and checked for any damage to the yacht. The skipper asked for the boat to be released to continue their journey towards Ramsgate Harbour in Kent. The lifeboat returned to station at 4.15am.
