Hull and reef damaged
The 'Permata Lestari 2' has been inspected and was found to have been damaged. A joint team from the Denpasar Coastal and Marine Resources Management Centre Pokmaswas Petrando and the West Nusa Tenggara Diving Community took aerial photos of the grounding site, while divers noticed that approximately 38 x 50 metres of coral reef were damaged with fragments of the vessel's hull scattered around coral fragments. The tip of the vessel's propeller was also bent. Local authorities were investigating the incident.
Ferry grounded off Gili Kondo
The 'Permata Lestari II', en route from Poto Tano Harbour, Sumbawa, to Kayangan Harbor, Lombokm ran aground in the waters of Gili Kondo, East Lombok, after it went adrift in adverse weather on Oct 4, 2021, at 11.30 p.m.. The ferry had 47 passengers as well as vehicles on board. The evacuation team from the Mataram SAR office responded quickly to evacuate the passengers. They were taken to Kayangan Harbour and undergoing health checks.
