Grounding on Volgo-Caspian Shipping Canal

The 'Port Olya 2' ran aground in the vicinity of pos, 45 09 27 N, 047 42 21 E on the Volgo-Caspian Shipping Canal at kilometer mark 143, 4 in the evening of May 27, 2023, en route to Bandar Amirabad with 14 crew members and 4.500 tons cargo on board. The Volgo-Caspian Shipping Canal was blocked for vessel traffic. On May 28, the vessel was refloated with the assistance of a tug and has anchored near kilometer mark 142.

The 'Port Olya-2' could be refloated unassisted on March 11 at 10.15 a.n. and continued its voyage to Amirabad with a cargo of 4,398 tons of grain on board. Also, the Volgo-Caspian Sea Canal, which had been closed to ship traffic, has now been re-opened.

Grounding on Volga-Caspian Shipping Channel

The 'Port Olya 2' enroute from Amirabad to Astrakhan, being loaded with 4.398 tonnes of grain, ran aground with 14 crew members on board in the Volga-Caspian shipping channel at kilometer 156,4 in the Astrakhan region on March 10, 2021. The Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region was notified at 08:30 a.m. There was a supply of water and food for 14 days on board. An interaction with the administration of the seaport of Olya and the Sea Rescue Coordination Center has been organized. Ship traffic was stopped between kilometer 146 to 170 after the accident.
