Allision in Cologne

On May 8, 2025, at 9.52 a.m. UTC, the barge combination 'Carisma I/Carisma II', enroute from Dordrecht to Emmerich, ran aground on the Rhinw at river kilometre 688 on a shallow at the Deutzer Plate. During the refloating attempts, it subsequently allided with the passenger ships 'Rhein Magie'and 'Rhein Vision' as well as two moored Viking Cruise ships, which were moored at the Rhine shore in Cologne. The barge combination became disconnected when mooring lines split, and there was material damage. No injuries were reported. The damage was estimated to be in the six digit region.

Six injured in grouding indicident

On the Rhine in Colonia the "Rheinenergie" ran aground during a turning manoever on Aug 31, 2018, short past 10 p.m. during a party on board. The bottom touch seemed to have been caused by the low river level. Several people fell due to the impact, and a music box crashed onto some passengers. Six of them were injured, suffering bruises and lacerations, as well as abrasions. The got first aid and then some of them were taken to hospital by ambulance after the ship berthed at the Franken Yard. Others sought medical help themselves.
