Rowan Reliance awarded contract by Fieldwood

Rowan Companies plc (Rowan) (NYSE: RDC) announced on Monday that the Rowan Reliance, an R-Class ultra-deepwater drillship, has been awarded a contract in the United States Gulf of Mexico by Fieldwood Energy LLC with a firm term of one year plus three 90-day options at then market rates. The contract is expected to commence the first quarter of 2019. The Rowan Reliance is currently warm stacked offshore Louisiana in the US Gulf of Mexico.

Rowan to lay off 150 workers after drillship contract terminated

Offshore drilling contractor Rowan Companies is going to lay off up to 150 offshore workers due to the contract termination of its drillship Rowan Reliance. According to a notice sent to Texas Workforce Commission, Rowan Reliance is currently contracted by Cobalt International Energy on North Platte in the Gulf of Mexico.

Rowan takes delivery of third drillship built using ISQM

ABS, the leading provider of classification services to the global offshore industry, continues to improve construction and integration timeliness with the completion of the Rowan Reliance ultra-deepwater drillship. This newbuild, the third in a series for global offshore drilling contractor Rowan Companies, was built in the Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) yard in Ulsan, South Korea. It joins sister ships Rowan Renaissance and Rowan Resolute as the next high-specification drillship to earn the ABS Integrated Software Quality Management (ISQM) notation, ABS said in its press release.
