Truck overturned in adverse weather

O June 28, 2022, the 'Dharma Rucitra' was battered by strong waves while sailing through the Bali Strait. The adverse weather conditions caused a truck on board the ferry to overturn. It hit the pick-up truck next to it, causing damage to the vehicle and its cargo. No injuries were reported.

Ferries troubled in strong currents

In Jembrana, Bali, the KMP 'Dharma Rucitra' with 20 passengers on board was dragged away in strong southern currents in Gelung Kori waters, Penginuman Environment. The ship had departed from Ketapang Port bound for Gilimanuk on Oct 7, 2020, at 7.15 a.m. with eight trucks, three vehicles, three motorbikes and 20 passengers on board when it veered off course at 7.45 a.m. The ship could not move forward because the current was too fast. The master tried to regain control in Gelung Koori waters, about three kilometers from Gilimanuk village. One more ship, the KMP 'Agung Wilis 1' (IMO: 8922876) also lost control. She had departed from Ketapang Port at 08.05 a.m. with six trucks, three vehicles, five motorbikes and 17 passengers on board. She suffered engine problems at 8.38 a.m The passengers on both ships have been evacuated. The 'Dharma Rucita' was able to dock in Gilimanuk at 10.42 a.m. under tow of the 'KMP 'Satya Kencana'. The 'Agung Wilis 1' docked at Gilimanuk at 10.55 a.m. under tow of the KMP 'Tuga Anugrah'.
