Flooded barge patched

Mon May 30 13:43:22 CEST 2016 Timsen

The barges which were pushed by the Segesta“ and ran aground on May 25 at Neustadtl on the Danube could be patched until May 28. Two compartments had been flooded, and the attempts of the fire rescue to pump out the water with submersible pumps had failed. They managed to patch only the smaller of two leaks of the barges which were loaded with 800 tons slag sand. Commercial divers worked until the evening of May 28 to patch the leak. On May 20 the convoy could leave the accident site. Water ingress in barges on Danube

Thu May 26 10:32:31 CEST 2016 Timsen

In the evening of May 25, 2016, two barges being pushed by "Segesta" (ENI-No.: 35054536) on the Danube in Strudengau in the Amstetten region suffered water ingress. The convoy was underway with 800 tons gravel and sprang aleak around 4.30 p.m. The fire brigades from Nabegg and Neustadtl were alerted and attended with submersible pumps. The barges were secured at the shore and were to be lightered onto another ship as the water ingress could not yet be coped. The work was expected to last until May 26.
