Fire gutted accomodation block

Mon Feb 05 18:40:55 CET 2018 Timsen

In the morning of Feb 3, 2018, a fire erupted in the superstructure of the "Shun An Lun" off Zhoushan and quickly engulfed it on the whole, so that the 11 crew members had to flee onto the forecastle, waiting for rescuers after issuing a distress signal. Several SAR ships arrived at the scene and managed to take them off despite stormy weather conditions. No injures reported. In the morning of Feb 4, the fire had died down and no more open flames were visible in the gutted accomodation block. The ship which was en route from Shanghai to Fuzhou was adrift in the seas, waiting for salvage.
