Freighter seized for smuggling textiles
The combined Customs and Excise officer secured the 'Silvi Jaya' which was transporting thousands of illegal textiles on March 29, 2020, in the Riau Province. The ship has been taken to Karimun Island for further inspections. The action began with information about the unloading of illegal imported goods at the dock in Buton, Siak Regency, where it was being loaded onto trucks. The Riau Regional Office team and Pekanbaru KPPBC then conducted sweeping and chasing on the mainland. This information was also forwarded to KPPBC Bengkalis and DJBC Kanwilsus of the Riau Islands to conduct searches at sea.
