Trawler towed to safety

Wed Dec 09 13:43:07 CET 2020 Timsen

From Dec 7 to 9, 2020, the patrol boat ship 991 of the 418 Squadron towed the 'Sokol' with a broken engine to Ba Ngoi port, Cam Ranh city. The ship had suffered a breakdown 120 nautical miles from Cam Ranh Bay, Khanh Hoa province, and was drifting in Northeast direction at a speed of one knot. The Naval Corps Command instructed the patrol boat 991 to assist the ship. On Dec 7 at 10 p.m. it managed to approach the casualty in spite of high winds, but during the maneuvering it suffered a malfunction of the port side main engine and was unable to proceed with the operation. After more than two hours of troubleshooting, at midnight it resumed the operation. In the afternoon of Dec 9, the 'Sokol' was towed to Ba Ngoi port along with its six crew members.
