Engine trouble off Isle of Man

The 'Stena Mersey' reported restricted engine power due to an unknown engine defect with the starboard engine in position 54 08 43.8 N, 004 57 39.0 W, west of the Isle of Man on Feb 17, 2020, at 3.15 p.m. The vessel has since reported that the defect has been rectified and continued the voyage from Belfast to Birkenhead where the ferry arrived at 8.30 p.m.

Sedef Shipbuilding to lengthen STENA MERSEY

Stena Line has decided to go ahead with the 36-metre lengthening of the 2005-built Visentini Class STENA MERSEY, bringing the capacities of the ship closer to that of its own E-Flexer Class under construction at the AVIC Weihai Shipyard in China.

Ferry withdrawn due to technical trouble

Due to a technical problem which occurred on July 29, 2019, the "Stena Mersey" has been withdrawn from service. The ferry entered the Gladstone Dock in Liverpool on July 30 at 7 p.m. for repairs. As a result there was a restricted services on the Belfast/Birkenhead route. The 3.30 a.m. services from Birkenhead and the3.30 p.m. services from Belfast were cancelled all week. The "Stena Forecaster" was inserted to carry unaccompanied traffic twice a day. Driver accompanied traffic on the affected departures was advised to seek alternative crossings on the Belfast / Cairnryan or Dublin / Holyhead services. The repair was completed on Aug 11, and the ship left the port, bound for Belfast, where it berthed on Aug 12 at 7.50 a.m. and resumed the schedule to Birkenhead.
